The Peace Project
We hope to see a culture of peace around the world, where violence and war-mentality no longer exist. In a culture of peace, everyone is included and no one is discriminated against. All races, cultures, and nationalities are equal and there is no need for domination or superiority. We hope that through our project, the whole world will be able to see the value in peaceful civilizations in ancient Africa and elsewhere and create a civilization based on love and cooperation.
To reach our goal of a culture of peace, we encourage international student exchange programs. At Walter Payton College Preparatory High School we will establish a Peace in History Project as a seminar and plan a student exchange program to Egypt. We will create a website and organize multicultural events to raise awareness and raise funds for our trip. We will be working in conjunction with United Nations General Assembly Resolution A/RES/62/89 which calls for an International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World (2001-2010). We plan to interact with peace organizations and build support for this vision throughout the world. Lastly, throughout the course of this project, we will study societies in history to demonstrate that cultures of peace existed in the past so we can learn to create new ones now and in the future.
